Banza is considered as the oldest poblacion of Butuan City. It is the place of many pure  Butuanons .  Most of them talks Butuanons dialect. A place  were palagsing maker resides. Palagsing was  a dessert similar to suman. It is made of sago starch ( Unaw)  mixed with young coconut  meat and sugar.  It is one of the delicacy of Butuan City .

Palagsing is usually served  during the the annual celebration of  Adlaw Hong Butuan and other occasions .  It is a highly perishable dish and has an estimated shelf-life of about 24 hours. However, its shelf-life can be extended by freezing and reheating before serving.

We should be thankful to the old Butuanon  who handed down their  knowledge to the next generation in making this delicacy. Let us be proud of our Palagsing Makers,  “Lami Gid ang Palagsing: Butuanon’s Delicacy, Butuanon’s Pride”
